Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-In a car coupling device for connecting a hook coupler with an automatic coupler of the knuckle type, slotted side links 5 are slidably connected to studs 4 projecting from opposite sides of the coupler head 1 and to studs 6 on the ends of a cross-bar 7, the side links 5 being expanded in the middle at 10 to permit them to be passed over the flanged heads of the studs 4, 6 when the knuckle 2 is removed from the coupler head. The cross-bar 7 is provided with a link 8 for engagement with the hook 3 of a non- automatic coupler, and the length of the links 5 are such that they cannot be removed from the coupler head without first removing the knuckle 2.
