Abstract

236,395. Jensen, C. A., (Buckeye Steel Castings Co.). July 28, 1924. Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-A transition coupling device comprises a bail to which the non-automatic chain coupling is attached and which is hooked to trunnions on the automatic coupler head and locked in working position by its relation to the top parts of the coupler. The automatic coupler head 1 is provided with an open-ended trunnion 2 and a trunnion 3 supported at its end by a rib 3a upstanding from the coupler head. A bail 4 having hooked ends 8, Fig. 2, carries a chain coupling 9 and is hooked on to the trunnions, the coupler head being disconnected from the draw-bar for this purpose. Two upstanding lugs 23 are provided to house the chain when out of use.
