Abstract

349,373. Automatic couplings for railway vehicles. NATIONAL MALLEABLE & STEEL CASTINGS CO., 10600, Quincy Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Bazeley, A. J. ; 9718, Logan Court; Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.) July 26, 1930, No. 22571. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1929. [Class 103 (v).] In a knuckle coupling for railway &c. vehicles of the kind in which the lock 7 is adapted to be released by a lifter 15 actuated by a pivoted operating lever 12, the coupler head 5 is provided with a pair of spaced lugs 19 connected by an integral pin 20 which forms a bearing for the lever 12, the latter having a hook portion 18 that can be readily attached to or detached from the pin 20 when the lever is swung to the position shown in Fig. 7. The lever 12 is also formed with an eye 14 adapted to receive the bent extremity 16 of the lock lifter 15, and with laterally disposed eyes 21 to which operating shafts extending to the sides of the vehicle may be linked. At its upper end the lifter 15 engages in known manner with an inclined slot 9 in the lock 7.
