Abstract

215,467. Barradine, E. Feb. 15, 1923. Couplings, non-automatic. - A coupling device for colliery trams comprises a spring-loaded shackle pin 3 mounted to slide vertically through the jaws 5, 6 of a shackle, and is characterized in that a guide 2 for the upper end of the shackle pin 3 is formed integrally with the shackle, the guide forming the abutment for one end of a spring 8, the other end of which abuts on a collar 7 or like projection on the shackle pin 3. In a modification for attachment to a hitching plate b, Fig. 3, an arched plate a and arched guide c are riveted to the plate, the pin d passing through the two plates and arched guide and the spring j abutting the underside of the arched guide c and a collar h on the pin. Specification 6595/12, [Class 62, Harness &c.], is referred to.
