Abstract

188,031. Holt, H. E. S. July 23, 1921. Stud-and-socket fastenings; catches, spring.-For securing the life-line of a parachute to a person's harness, a slotted plate i secured to the life-line is pushed into a slot b, formed in a plate a secured to the belt of the harness, until a pivoted spring catch d engages the slot in the plate i, shoulders d' being formed on the catch to engage corresponding shoulders in holes c, c<1> in the plate a as shown in Fig. 4, to relieve the pivot pin of any stress due to the load. The catch d is pivoted on a pin e between lugs f and is pressed by a coiled torsion spring g through the holes c, c'. An inclined portion d<2> is formed on the catch. The device may be used in conjunction with the quick release fastening described in Specification 183,245, the plate a being formed as an extension of the base-plate of the quick release fastening.
