Abstract
301,162. Holt, H. E. S. Oct. 11, 1927. Hook, cord, and stud-and-slot fastenings.-The flap-releasing means for a parachute pack comprises a split-pin f<1>, Fig. 5, which is normally withdrawn by a manual cord g. When withdrawn, the pin releases a bead-ended static cord f<2> connected to the aircraft which would withdraw the pin if the manual means failed. The flap-releasing cord and also flap-opening cords are all connected to a manually-operable lanyard k<1>, Fig. 4, passing through a tube o. Within the tube o a bead-ended a static lanyard p is releasably connected to the lanyard k<1> by a spring hook q. When an auxiliary parachute is used before the main parachute is withdrawn, the former is detachably connected by a life-line t<1>, Fig. 6, to the airman's belt. A headed stud t<2> is held in a slotted-plate t<3> on the belt by a locking-plate, which can be withdrawn against a spring by a cam-lever t<5>, connected to the releasing-lanyard of the main parachute.
