Abstract

155,041. Schollar, P. W., and Calthrop's Aerial Patents, Ltd., E. R. Sept. 17, 1919. Parachutes. - Relates to parachute apparatus for aviation in which the harness sling is bifurcated, and either branch may be attached automatically to the parachute rope on the side of the machine from which the aviator jumps and consists in having two members on the rope normally in line with a third co-operating member on the sling. A bracket a, Fig. 3, on the aeroplane has lugs b into recesses in which seat two members c, d which are lined up by a sleeve e. The members c, d are connected to the parachute sling, and the sleeve e to the aviator's harness f. The sleeve e is normally retained central, but on a sideways pull, the sleeve slides on to one of the members c, d and is locked thereto by pivoted pawls g or k which are forced out by springs h or l into recesses in the sleeve e.
