Abstract

184,499. Calthrop, E. R. Feb. 9, 1921. Fastenings operated or controlled mechanically from a distance.-Parachute tapes 17 are connected to a cabin by fastenings which comprise a ring 22 and a detent 23 pivotally mounted on a rod 24 sliding in guides 25 having an aperture 27. A spring 29 may be provided to hold the detent 23 in engagement with the aperture 27, and the shape may be such that release is practically impossible whilst the parachute is carrying its load. On alighting, operation of the rod 24 causes all the tapes to be released simultaneously.
