Abstract
256,735. Holt, H. E. S. May 29, 1925. Parachutes.-Relates to fastening means for a parachute pack designed to be released by hand or by the static cord attached to the aircraft. The pack is closed against the action of an elastic band by means of a metal tongue a hinged to a plate mounted on one of the closing flaps. The tongue is passed through a. loop e passing through eyes in the other flaps, and is then folded back and secured in position by a breaking cord f or by a wire catch f<2>. Hand release is controlled by the cord h, which in the first arrangement withdraws the pin h<1>, and in the second slides the catch f<2> clear of the tongue. The catch f<2> is stopped bv a peg b<2>. The static cord g which is wound on a reel attached to the aeroplane is passed through a guide g<2> and escapes from the catch f<2> when the latter has freed the tongue a.
