Couplings, non- automatic.-In a device for coupling vehicles wherein a guided lever is pivotally connected at one end to an operating crank and has a roller intermediately of its ends which engages the guiding cam surface, a normally pendant arm is fitted which is pivotally connected to the other end of the guided lever, and when moved thereby is guided by a second cam surface so as to place the coupling member of the vehicle on the drawhook. A transverse shaft 14 carries an arm 13 from which depend links 12 straddling a plate 19 fixed to the underframe of the vehicle. A short link 16 also depends from the arm 13 and carries one end of a pin 17<a> which passes through both links 12 and a cam slot 18 in the plate 19. Between the links 12 and on the pin 17<a> is a roller 17 which rolls along the cam slot 18 when the transverse shaft 14 is turned. A pendant arm 7 is pivoted at the ends of the links 12, and at its upper end is provided with a cam surface adapted to roll on a cam surface on the bottom edge of the plate 19 whilst the lower end of the link 7 is provided with a spring-operated finger 5 which grips a projection 3 of the chain link 2 and carries it up and over the opposing drawhook when the transverse shaft 14 is operated. The drawhook 1 is locked by a tongue 22 pivoted at 23 to the drawhook and to a depending foot 24 which rests on a cam 28 fixed to a transverse shaft 26 operated by a chain from another transverse shaft (not shown). An arm 25 is fixed to the shaft 26 so that when the shaft 26 is turned the cam surface 28 raises the foot 24 which depresses the tongue 22 to clear the mouth of the hook 1, and the arm 25 engage the opposing link and ejects it from the hook. A removable wearing block 30 may be inserted in the lower edge of the cam surface of the plate 19.
