Abstract

216,301. Williams, L. W. April 24, 1923. Ground-levers.-A spring ground-lever of the still-handle type comprises a sliding plunger 10 adapted to be actuated by the handle 5, means being provided for maintaining the plunger at one or other side of the centre line of the point box 1 whereby lost motion of the handle is avoided. The plunger is formed with a slot 9 through which the handle passes and is tapered at the front ends which is adapted to engage either end of a crank block pivoted on a spindle 16 and provided with an arm 17 forming part of the toggle mechanism. The rear end of the plunger, of the form shown, is provided with a slot 12 adapted to receive a pin 13 on an oscillating block 20. This block, constituting one end of the toggle mechanism, fits in a housing 21 provided with pins 22 engaging in holes in the end wall of the point box 1.
