Abstract

Rigid-jaw wrenches combined with other appliances; handles.-A box-spanner, screwdriver, &c. has an operating lever or tommy bar formed with a cranked part pivoted in a transverse opening in the tool body so that it may be folded alongside the tool when the latter is out of 'use. The cranked end 4 of the tommy bar 3 is received in a hole 5 through the box spanner 1 and secured thereto by riveting over the end 6 or by means of a headed screw, and the end of the tommy bar may be formed as a screwdriver 21, or as a tyre lever, spanner, file &c. The tommy bar may be formed for use with both hands by providing it with two lever arms projecting in opposite directions from the cranked part. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the cranked part 9 of one lever 10 has a second lever 13 pivoted thereon. In another modification, two cranked levers are pivoted to the tool separately. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the cranked part 4 of the lever is mounted in a slot 20 of the tool to facilitate use in places difficult of access.
