In a wrench or pliers comprising crossed handles 1, 2 with jaws 9, 10, one of the intersecting parts 6 being provided with a fixed pivot pin 5 which can engage one of a number of holes 4 provided in the cranked part 3 of the other member, the end of the cranked part 3 extends through an open-sided channel formed by an overhanging cheek 7 on the part 6. In the closed position of the jaws the handles are substantially parallel. The end of the handle 2 is formed as a screwdriver. The handle 1 may be used as a lever.
