Abstract
774,395. Pliers; hand vices. SPEED TOOLS, Ltd. March 11, 1955 [March, 30. 1954], No. 9305/54. Class 61 In a toggle actuated appliance for use as a welding clip, pliers, hand vice,. &c., comprising a stationary jaw 10 and a jaw 11 pivotally mounted thereon, an actuating handle member 22 being hinged at one end of the pivoted jaw and a link 28 connecting the member 22 to the stationary jaw, the hinge pin 15, of the jaw 11. which is mounted adjustably on a screw 16 carried by the stationary jaw and threadedly engages the hinge pin, is carried by one end of a connecting link 24 the other end of which is pivoted at 26 to the stationary jaw. The appliance is locked in operative position when the hinge point 27 of the link 28 reaches the dead centre position on the line joining the other hinge point 29 of the link 28 and the hinge 23 of the actuating member 22 and jaw 11. The hinge 26 is the fourth point of the parallelogram whose other three points are the hinges 15, 23 and 29.
