Abstract
198,556. Arnold, J. E. May 26, 1922. Castrating appliances, of the kind operating by crushing action only, comprise arms 1. 2 pivoted at both ends, and connected by a link pivoted at both ends, and formed with rounded jaws 5, 6, as shown, or with jaws in a plane at right angles to the plane of the arms. A bar 7 projects from the arm 2 through a slot in the arm 1 and carries a pivoted cam lever 10 adapted to be turned towards the arm 1 so as to force the jaws together against the action of a spring 13. The lever 10 may be fitted with an anti-friction roller 11 and with a stop 12 and may, as shown, be bifurcated and fitted with a pin 8 engaging a slot in the end of the bar 7 so as to form a detachable pivot joint. Projections formed on one of the jaws and extending towards and over the other jaw may be provided to position the parts to be operated on.
