Abstract
204,109. Davies, W. Langdon-, and Soames, A. June 19, 1922. Regulating transformers.-An automatic regulator comprises a magnetic core having mutually inductive windings, a member which moves in a leakage path to vary the inductive effect of the windings and two stops one or both of which are adjustable to define the limiting positions of the movable member in order that the volt-ampere characteristic curve of the regulator may lie between two definite volt-ampere characteristic curves. A closed magnetic core A, Fig. 1, is provided with a primary winding B, a secondary winding C, and a pivoted leakage member A rotated by the magnetic field against the action of a spring F. The movement of the member A<1> is controlled by a dash-pot G and its limiting positions are determined by adjustable stops D, D<1>. In a modification the inside surfaces of the core A are plane and the member A<1> is shaped to move within the core. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 the leakage member A<2> is pivoted to an extension A<3> of one limb of the core A and its limiting positions are determined by stops D<2>. D<3>. In a further modification fhe leakage member is given a rectilinear movement.
