Abstract
362,438. Boosting by transformers. KOCH & STERZEL AKT.-GES., 40, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. May 29, 1930, No. 16665. Convention date, May 31, 1929. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv).] Relates to a voltage regulation system using a tapped autotransformer 18 and an induction regulator 20 for obtaining smooth voltage change and consists in the induction regulator being mounted on insulators 30 and connected to the line through an insulating transformer 38 so that heavy insulation between the regulator windings is avoided. The regulator 20 is of the " sliding core type having primary windings 21, 22 oppositely wound and connected in parallel so that by moving the secondary 23 from a position opposite coil 22 to a position opposite coil 21 the induced potential is reversed. By closing switch 15 and moving winding 23 from opposite winding 21 to the position shown, the voltage U2 is varied from a value of (U1-twice the p.d. between 12, 13) to a value U1. By opening switch 15 and closing 14 and moving winding 23 from the position shown to a position opposite the winding 21 the voltage U2 is varied from U1, to a value (U1+twice the p.d. between 12, 13).
