Regulation, automatic; systems depending on static transformers. - In a regulating device according to the parent Specification, the choke coil 4, Fig. 1, associated with the primary of the transformer &c. 3 is fitted with an additional winding 20 in a separate circuit to vary the control characteristics. The saturation of the core may be varied by direct current in the winding 20, which is either placed on a third limb and surrounding by a short-circuited winding 21 to exclude alternating flux from that limb, or else is placed on a bifurcated limb, the two halves of which are linked by an 8-shaped winding to ensure equality of alternating flux in each. Further, in a three-phase system, the choke coil 30, Fig. 3, for each phase has linked with it a coil 31 in another phase so as to equalize the effects of loads occasioning substantial phase displacement. The coils 31 may be in the secondary circuit of the transformer 3. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also separately-excited auxiliary windings on the chokes in the multiphase arrangements described with reference to Fig. 3. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
