356,229. Electric transformers. LOCHNER, E. B. M., La Quinta, Galleywood, Chelmsford, Essex. May 5, 1930, No. 20775/29. [Class 38 (ii).] Regulating transformers. - A variable ratio transformer comprises a core 3 having one of its vokes divided to form a number of parallel paths 5a, 5b, 5c for the flux. The primary and secondary windings 1, 2 are disposed mainly on a part of the core away from the divided yoke, one of the windings extending between the parts of the divided yoke. Transformation ratio is varied by controlling the flux distribution in the yoke parts 5a, 5b, 5c by means of auxiliary windings 11 energized by a winding 10 inductively associated with the main winding, the number of turns of the auxiliary windings in circuit being varied by switches 12. The invention may also apply to multiphase transformers and autotransformers.
