Abstract

349,002. Regulating transformers. PEDRAZZO, G., 3 bis, Via Cernaia, Biella, Italy. Feb. 26, 1930, No. 2206/31. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1929. Divided on 344,371. [Class 38 (ii).] In order to reduce losses due to magnetizing current &c. when a transformer is operating on light loads, provision is made for reducing the effective number of turns on both the primary and secondary sides so as to reduce the saturation of the iron without altering the transformation ratio. The Figure shows the winding connections on both the primary and secondary sides of a three-phase transformer under four different operating conditions. Each winding comprises four separate coils, three of which may be cut out of circuit in succession by means of a drum or other controller. Other variations may be obtained by changes in the phase connections from star to delta. Specifications 313,501, [Class 38 (iii), Heating by electricity], and 344,371 are referred to. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) changes may also be effected by connecting two or more of the coils in parallel or series-parallel. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
