[Class 38 (ii)] In polyphase transformers or choking coils having asymmetric magnetic circuits (e.g., cores with limbs in one plane) giving rise to harmonics of unequal amplitudes in the different phases, the harmonics are compensated or balanced out. by a flux system produced by ampere-turns so selected in magnitude and phase as to be represented by a vector diagram the corner points of which coincide with the corner points of a vector diagram representing, the flux system of the main windings. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which the balancing flux system is produced in a divided yoke 10, 11, 12 by a winding 16 connected between the ends of two of the phases of a star-connected winding 13, 14, 15 on the core limbs. Fig. 5 shows an alternative arrangement in which the balancing flux system is produced in a core 26 separate from the main core 27 carrying a star-connected winding, the core 26 carrying a delta-connected winding the two outer phases of which are connected to adjustable tapping points on the middle phase. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subject-matter of Specifications 512,788 and 512,789. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
