Abstract
476,923. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 28, 1937, No. 17964. Convention date, June 27, 1936. Addition to 470,145. [Class 38 (ii)] In a five-limbed threephase transformer in which the core is designed so that the fifth and seventh harmonic components of the magneto - motive - force necessary to produce a sinusoidal flux cancel out as described with reference to Fig. 6 of the parent Specification, means are provided for suppressing third harmonic flux in the main limbs. The means may comprise a delta-connected auxiliary winding 8a, 8b, 8c, Fig. 1, on the main limbs ; a pair of windings 9a, 9b, Fig. 2, on the outer limbs connected so that the induced voltages therein are additive as regards the third harmonic and opposed as regards the fundamental; or a modification of the existing yoke windings in which the outer sections 7a, 7d, Fig. 3, are connected in parallel with each other and form a closed delta with the inner sections 7b, 7c.
