Abstract

634,552. Transformers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Feb. 17, 1948, No. 4609. Convention date, April 30, 1947. [Class 38 (ii)] Phase angle errors are reduced in a current transformer comprising a primary winding 5 and a secondary winding 4 on a common portion of a core 1 by providing magnetic shunts 6, 7 positioned in the space between the primary and secondary windings so that the leakage flux passing between these two windings is guided to return via the core portion not surrounded by the two windings. This causes a greater flux leakage and consequently a greater leakage reactance.
