Abstract
607,987. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and WELLINGS, J. G. Feb. 13, 1946, No. 4510. [Class 38 (ii)] A high reactance transformer has a threelimbed core with primary and secondary windings on the centre limb and auxiliary windings in series with the secondary and on each outer limb whereby flux is circulated in the outer limbs and yokes to produce a reactive effect. In the Figure, the primary winding 3 which, with the secondary winding 4, is on the centre limb 2 of the core, produces flux as shown by the dotted arrows ; the windings 6 and 7 on the outer limbs 5 are in series with winding 4 and produce the reactance flux as shown by the full-line arrows. The core may be in two parts separated (as indicated by dotted lines 9) to provide an air-gap in the path of the reactance flux.
