Abstract
615,044. Inductances and transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 19, 1946, No. 24660. Convention date, Aug. 21, 1945. [Class 38 (ii)] Two or more laminated iron-cored inductive devices are secured together with their laminations coplanar by parallel tie members in tension and in order to avoid loss of alignment mechanical yoke members secure the tie members against the core structure. Fig. 1 shows a shell-type laminated transformer core 2 to which the laminated cores of chokes 1, 3 are secured at each end; the air-gaps of the chokes may be maintained by spacers 4, 5. Tie-bolts 6 and yokes 7 are used and yoke members 9, arranged, or constructed of non-magnetic material, so as to avoid interference with the air-gaps, may be spot welded to the tie-bolts in the region of the joints. A core-type arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown) is also described.
