Abstract
693,605. Transformers and inductors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 6, 1951 [July 14, 1950], No. 16087/51. Class 38 (ii). [Also in Group XXII] In a lap-jointed laminated magnetic core for stationary electrical induction apparatus, to reduce noise, the abruptness in the change of flux path, at a butt joint in each layer, from such layer to adjacent layers, is reduced by increasing the reluctance of the lamination end portions near the joint by scoring or grooving the side or sides of such portions. The reluctance may be further increased by straining, fluxing, grinding, or reducing the thickness of these portions. Each layer may comprise a number of laminations.
