Abstract
863,012. Transformers. WILLEM SMIT & CO.'S TRANSFORMATORENFABRIEK N.V. Dec. 9, 1958 [Dec. 17, 1957], No. 39707/58. Class 38 (2). A laminated magnetic core structure for a single-phase transformer has main legs 1 (Figs. 1 and 2) of approximately circular cross-section, auxiliary legs 3 of similar but smaller crosssection, which may carry tapped auxiliary coils for voltage control, and auxiliary yoke portions 4 of approximately circular or elliptical crosssection, the width of the laminations in the various layers being such that there is a substantially constant ratio between the width of the main leg lamination and the sum of the widths of the corresponding lamination in a main yoke 2 and an auxiliary yoke 3, the lamination width in each main yoke lamination layer corresponding to the difference between the width of a main leg lamination and that of an auxiliary leg lamination. Each main leg consists of two sets of lamination strips S1<SP>1</SP> and S1<SP>11</SP> (Fig. 6) spot welded together and arranged as shown. The main yoke cross-section may be roughly in the shape of a sickle, a reel or a reversed U (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown).
