Abstract
830,688. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 13, 1956 [April 13, 1955], No. 11331/56. Class 38 (2). A magnetic core for transformers &c. comprises laminated leg and yoke members, the yoke members being bent longitudinally to reduce the overall height. Each leg is formed from groups of laminations 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 79, 80 and 81 disposed to provide cooling ducts 23, 24, and groups 21 acting as covers. Bolts 25 secure the laminations. The yokes and legs are joined by inserts, the joins overlapping in alternate layers. As shown the top surface of the cover laminations of the bottom yoke lies level with the surface formed by the edges of the main laminations of that yoke. Various arrangements of the yoke laminations are described. The device is applicable to single-phase or polyphase transformers.
