Abstract

The magnetic core, for a 3-phase transformer, has three vertical columns connected at their upper and lower ends by magnetic yokes. Three frame members (12) form an equilateral triangle and are constructed from continuous, wound laminae (13). Each frame member has a smooth surface (14) at the corners of the triangle so that when the core (11) is assembled these members lie at angles of 120 deg. relative to one another. Three smooth surfaces are at an angle of 60 deg. to the planes of lamination. The advantage of this core structure lies in its reducing loss currents and hysteresis.
