Abstract

680,577. Transformers. N.G.N. ELECTRICAL, Ltd. March 28, 1951 [March 30, 1950], No. 7938/50. Class 38 (ii). A transformer core is built of a plurality of pairs of E-shaped laminations A, each pair being arranged in a common plane to form a rectangle, each lamina of a pair having their outside legs a1, a3 of unequal length, the centre leg a2 being cut at an angle. The pairs of laminations are stacked so that adjacent laminations are reversed to one another, thus forming butt and lap joints throughout the stack. The laminations may be coated on one side with an.insulating substance to reduce eddy currents. In another embodiment all three legs are cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
