Abstract
686,872. Transformers and inductances; electromagnets. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 27, 1950 [Dec. 3, 1949], No. 28969/50. Classes 35 and 38 (ii). A laminated magnetic core 1 comprises a plurality of leg members 2, 3, 4, each leg member being connected at its ends to its respective adjoining leg members by yoke members 5, 6, 7, 8, each of the leg and yoke members comprising separate stacks of rectangular laminations of magnetic material, the whole being held in assembled relation by welds 12-19 applied at the joints between the leg and yoke members. The leg and yoke members are formed with butt joints only, but, in another embodiment, butt and lap joints are shown in which case two welds per joint are used. To secure the outer laminations, spot welds 20 are used. Specification 686,873 is referred to.
