Abstract
1400599 Transformers and inductors SMIT NIJMEGEN ELECTROTECHNISCHE FABRIEKEN NV 26 Oct 1972 [27 Oct 1971] 49504/72 Heading HIT In a transformer or inductor core in which legs and yokes form two adjacent rectangular windows 7, 8, and each leg or yoke comprises two side-by-side laminations (such as 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 9 and 10, 11 and 12) per layer, and wherein the inner yoke member 9 for window 8 joins leg member 6 in an oblique joint 13, and the outer yoke member 10 for window 8 joins the outer yoke member 12 in a parallel oblique joint 14 the length of member 10 is made longer (and 12 consequentially shorter) than would be necessary if joints 13, 14, were to be co-linear. The result leaves an unfilled spaced 17. The arrangement facilitates assembly, wherein the last of the four lamination 9, 10, 11, 12 to be positioned is lamination 10 which if it is too long leaves a gap between 9 and 10 which causes no great disadvantage. The laminations are grain-oriented material, and layers or sets of layers are inverted as shown in dotted line. An arrangement wherein the angles of abutment are other than 45 degrees is also disclosed (Fig. 2, not shown).
