Abstract
1,070,784. Transformers. M. L. E. JEAN and M. M. JEAN. Nov. 8, 1963 [Nov. 10, 1962]. No. 44245/63. Heading H1T. A magnetic circuit for a transformer is constructed from laminate layers in such a way that in each layer, winding leg portions 11, 12 are connected to yoke portions 13, 14 by stepped joints at their ends. The stepped joints CD, C 1 D 1 , C 2 D 2 , C 3 D 3 in each layer may be arranged to lie on one side of their respective end diagonals A 1 C, A 2 C 1 , A 3 C 2 , AC 3 so that on suitable orientation of each successive layer joints of neighbouring layers may be made to overlap. Each layer comprises a number of trapezoidal laminations having steps cut along their non-parallel sides; laminations being of grain Oriented material. Such stepped joint connections may be used in the construction of cores for three-phase transformers (Fig. 4, not shown).
