665,087. Transformers and inductances. BRITISH-THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 7, 1949 [Dec. 17, 1948], No. 31424/49. Class 38 (ii). A magnetic core is built up of a plurality of lamination layers 1, 3 of. thin, straight flat pieces of magnetic material having a most favourable magnetic direction and identical mitred or bevelled ends at each end, to provide a window, the overlapping butt joints being obtained by disposing the pieces in succeeding layers longitudinally to offset the butt joint, such that the offsetting is clockwise relative to one adjacent layer and counterclockwise relative to the other adjacent layer. The projecting outer corners 5, 6 may be removed. A plurality of spaced slits 8 extending longitudinally from the ends of each strip may be provided to obtain a more uniform flux distribution at the corners.
