Abstract
229,484. Berry, F. E., and Berry, A. F. Feb. 15, 1924. Transformers.-In a veactance transformer, such as that described in Specification 14030/14, in which laminated iron sheets are placed between the windings b, c to form a shunt path for magnetic leakage, the adjacent edges of adjacent groups of sheets a are adapted to concentrate the magnetic flux into substantially straight zones. For this purpose the edges of the sheets are formed with oppositely arranged projections and recesses, which are preferably V-shaped, as shown in Fig. 2. The air gaps between superposed groups a may be filled with a non-magnetic material such as cement. The sheets of each group are preferably arranged radially to the windings, and may consist of parallel lengths of magnetic material connected together sideways through portions of reduced thickness, as described in Specification 112,649.
