571,796. Magnetic core structures. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 29, 1943, No. 21777. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1942. [Class 38 (ii)] Each of a plurality of stacked layers forming a magnetic core consists of separate buttjointed laminations cut from magnetic ribbon, in which the most favourable magnetic direction is lengthwise, such that butt-joints, e.g. 15, 22, Fig. 1, of a layer forms an acute angle with the butt-joints of a contiguous layer, resulting in joints being overlapped by a lamination. This is effected for a two-legged core by making a diagonal cut at one end of each leg or yoke, e.g. cut 15 of leg 11 at an angle of 30 degrees with the longitudinal axis, and cut 16 at the other end at 30 degrees with the lateral axis. In assembly, the one end of a lamination abuts the other end of another lamination to form a corner and in stacking, the layers are oppositely disposed, giving overlapped butt-joints.
