Abstract

Polyphase transformers.-A polyphase transformer comprises coils 10<a> - - 10<c> mounted side by side with their axes parallel to each other in the same plane, and a laminated core having portions 11a - - 11<c> within each set of coils, end portins 12a, 12<b> outside each of the end coils, and yoke portions 13a, 13b connecting the ends of the other portions. The coils are of elliptical form as shown, and the portions of the core passing through the coils are given a corresponding shape in cross-section. The yokes and end portions of the core carry a smaller flux than the portions within the coil, and may have cross-sectional areas of approximately half that of the latter portions.
