Abstract

117,953. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). Aug. 10, 1917. Transformers.-A transformer or other stationary induction apparatus has a core partly enclosed by the winding, and the part at the centre of the winding works at a higher flux density than the parts near the ends. The core shown consists of three units 8, 9, 10 fitted together to form a centre leg as described in Specification 117,685. The laminations of each unit comprise the centre leg parts 18 with the leg 20 gradually increasing in width towards the yoke 21, and the outer parts 25 with yoke 26 having a triangular projection 27. The laminations break joint when assembled, and the space left is occupied by the winding 7, Fig. 3, so that the part 33 of the winding is nearer the axis than the end portions. The outer legs and the yokes are so proportioned that thev work at a lower flux density than the middle part of the centre leg. Specification 13739/07, [Class 37, Electricity.
