347,538. Transformers. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Kari-Ufer, Berlin.) June 30, 1930, No. 19869. Convention date, June 29, 1929. [Class 38 (ii).] A transformer for supplying current at a variable voltage to loads such as furnaces comprises three core legs per phase, one of which carries the output winding c and is energized by the sum or difference of fluxes produced in the other two legs by a pair of parallel-connected windings a, b, one or both of which is regulated by tappings. The winding a is energized by connection to the supply network or bv association with a primary winding on the same leg. Reversal of the flux produced by the winding b is effected by reversal of the positions of the contacts d, e. A modification suitable for three-phase supply is described in which tappings are also provided on the windings b.
