Transformers; ph a se, changing.-In a high voltage instrument transformer as described in the parent Specification, phase displacement between the primary and secondary voltage due to increased leakage resulting from the inclusion of air gaps in the core is avoided by the provision of a resistance 2 in series with the primary winding 1. The resistance is of such value that the voltage developed across the primary winding is displaced in phase from the line voltage by an angle equal to that which would exist between the primary and secondary voltages if no resistance were provided.
