Abstract

Dec. 22, 1932, No. 36354. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1931. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv).] An arrangement of interdependent pulsating electric circuits comprises a source 5 of alternating current and a pair of branch circuits 1, 2 connected therewith each including a lamp or other load 11, 16 in series with a capacity 10, 15 and a winding 7, 12 of a saturable reactor 8, 13 provided with a saturating winding 9, 14 supplied with direct current, the circuits being arranged for resonance at low-current values, such resonance leading to increase of current and destruction of the resonance, with decrease of current and so on around the cycle and the circuits being coupled together to control the relative phases of the cycles therein bv transformer windings 21, 22 connected across the loads 11, 16 respectively. The direct current supply for the windings 9, 14 is preferably derived from the source 5 through a rectifier 18. Each of the saturable reacters 8, 13 may be in the form shown in Fig. 2 in which alternating current windings 25, 26 are wound in opposite directions on the two inner legs of a core 24 and connected in parallel, with the saturating winding 27 around both legs as described in Specification 103,842, [Class 38 (iv), Electric supply and transmission systems &c.], or as shown in Fig. 3 each reactor may comprise two transformers each having its own magnet circuit, the alternating current windings 36, 37 being connected in parallel and the saturating windings 34, 35 in series. Either pair of windings may be reversely wound to prevent induction of alternating current in the saturating circuit.
