Abstract

398,583. Systems depending on static transformers. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Mallett, M. B. ; 32, Elizabeth Street, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) April 29, 1932, No. 12368. Convention date, April 29, 1931. [Class 38 (iv).] Two three-phase distribution systems are connected together in any way through two single phase transformers 1, 3 having two primary and two secondary windings apiece, one primary 7, 12 and one secondary winding 13, 18 of each transformer being connected individually in a phase of the respective circuits, the remaining primary 8, 11 and secondary windings 14, 17 being connected in series in the remaining phase. The Figure shows a star-delta connection and in all cases the arrangement is stated to give balanced three-phase voltages. For normal operation three such single-phase transformers may be connected as in standard practice, and the above connection resorted to if one transformer breaks down, the system then transmitting reduced power.
