Abstract

544,312. Electricity supply. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., LTD. Oct. 30, 1940, No. 15869. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1939. [Class 38 (iv)] Transformer arrangements. In regulating the voltage of a three-phase system U, V, W by series transformers, the series windings fl, f2, f3 are energized by three-phase star-connected primaries g1, g2, g3 one of which is connected to the midpoint of a potential divider whilst the others are connected to symmetrically distributed tapping thereon, the two halves of the potential divider D1, D3 being connected across two of the line-to-line voltages of the three-phase system. Switch gear may be provided for reversing the connections of the primaries gl, g2, g3 to change over from boost to buck. Unbalance of voltage on the primaries of the series transformers due to unbalanced loads on the three-phase system may be compensated for by the provision of a delta-connected tertiary or shortcircuited turns on the yokes of the series transformers
