Abstract
549,861. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 23, 1941, No. 9320. Convention date, July 23, 1940. [Class 38 (ii)] In a polyphase transformer having at least one star-connected winding C1, C2, C3, in order to suppress third harmonics and at the same time to prevent unbalance of the three-phase system voltage by line-to-ground or line-to-neutral faults, a delta-connected winding A1, B1, A2, B2, A3, B3 is provided on the same core with connections from intermediate points on each phase element to feed a low voltage circuit 4, and the windings are so arranged that there is high leakage reactance between the two parts of each phase of the delta-winding and low leakage reactance between each phase of the delta-winding as a whole and the corresponding phase of the star-connected winding. The transformer may have separate or auto-connected primaries and secondaries in star connection, the delta-connected winding being a tertiary.
