Cut-out systems.-In the protection of a three-phase generator 1 connected through a transformer 2 to the bus-bars 3 by a relay located in a connection between the neutral point 4 of the generator and the neutral point 5 of the transformer, incorrect operation of the protective relay by the harmonic of treble frequency is avoided by employing a wattmeter-type relay the voltage winding of which is connected across a pair of the phases. As' shown, the neutral point of the generator is earthed to the casing of the machine through the resistance 9. A current transformer in the neutral point lead supplies the current winding 13, and a voltage transformer 15 across one of the phases of the primary of the transformer supplies the voltage winding 14. Three voltage windings may be used on the relay, one connected across each of the phases.
