Abstract
361,339. Induction machines. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) July 8, 1930, No. 20683. Convention date, July 9, 1929. [Class 35.] In a set including an induction machine cascaded with a commutator machine, the excitation of the commutator machine is supplied either direct or through further commutator machines by a transformer system having two or more primary windings, one being in series with the primary of the induction machine whilst another is in series with a substantially independent current consumer, and the asynchronous machine is mechanically coupled to that commutator machine which is connected to the transformer system. In the form shown, the machine c is fed by the secondaries of the transformers e, f, the primaries of which are connected in the primary circuit of the induction machine a and to a combination of adjustable resistance j, h, which may also be capacitative, respectively. The transformers may be tapped or induction regulators used. In a modified form, a frequency changer coupled to the main machine is interposed between the transformer system and the commutator machine c, and the resistances are replaced by an unloaded synchronous machine, the excitation of which may be varied to vary the speed of the cascade set. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 273,330, 279,086, and 285,478, [all in Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.].
