Abstract
210,789. Torda, T. Jan. 31, 1923, [Convention date]. Alternating-current commutator and induction machines.-In an induction motor in which the rotor acts as the primary member and carries a phase-compensating commutator winding n located on a smaller radius than the polyphase winding y, tappings on the commutator winding are connected with tapping points w on the polyphase winding so that the commutator winding is subjected to less than the full line voltage, and' the commutator brushes are connected with terminals of the stator secondary winding m. Specification 205,776 is referred to. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the rotor may be the secondary member, in which case tappings on the commutator winding are connected with the individual phases of the polyphase winding at points which are situated as far as possible from the slip-rings. As shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled) the ends w of the three-phase, rotor winding y are connected to points on the commutator winding n. The brushes b are fed at reduced voltage directly or indirectly from the stator, or from a separate transformer. Where the rotor windings are in delta, the middle points of the phases are connected to the commutator winding. The slip-rings are connected to starting resistances, and short-circuiting and brush-lifting devices may be provided. This subject-matter doesnot appear in the Specification as accepted.
