Abstract
238,569. Sousedik, J. Aug. 16, 1924, [Convention date]. Alternating-current commutator machines; alternating-current motors.-A phase-compensating device for alternating-current motors has on its stator a winding 19 short-circuited through an adjustable resistance 20 and a polyphase winding 16, 17, 18 and on its rotor a commutator winding 31 and a polyphase winding 21, 22, 23 brought out to slip-rings, the stator windings 16, 17, 18 being in series with the rotor winding 4 of the motor M under compensation and the commutator windings 31 of the compensator through a starting resistance 39, while the rotor windings 21, 22, 23 are connected to the mains R, S, T on which the main motor runs. The two rotor windings 31 and 21, 22, 23 are wound in common slots and a transformer may be inserted between the slip-rings 24 and the mains. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the rotation of the compensating device is effected entirely by the " reaction current " of the motor to be compensated. Also that " by differently selecting the magnitude of the commutator voltage it is possible, within wide limits to regulate the frequency of the compensated current for hyper and hyposynchronism." This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
