[Class 35.] Where synchronous operation of a number of stator-fed t h r e e - phase shunt commutator motors is required, a common exciting transformer is provided which has its secondary connected to the brushes of all the motors. In the form shown, the secondary of the transformer 3 is connected to the brushes of the machines, and the primary is fed by an auxiliary winding on the stator of the motor 2. Alternatively, the transformer primary may be fed from the mains. The transformer may be replaced by an induction regulator.
