Abstract
620,118. Mufti-current generators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and MAGGS, A. H. Oct. 25, 1944, No. 20730. [Class 35] A machine with a laminated core has a commutator and slip rings on the rotor for D.C. and low-frequency operation and the stator has a high-frequency winding as well as exciting windings, while the commutator is engaged by a pair of short-circuited brushes disposed approximately midway between the main brushes. In the form shown, D.C. is available at terminals 6, 7 through compensating coils 4, 5 or from terminals 14, 7 if it is desired to include series field winding 13 while terminal 10 connected to short-circuited brushes 8, 9 permits three-wire operation. The A.C. (lowfrequency) winding 15 is combined with the commutator winding 1 to give current at terminals 19, 20 through transformer primary 24 which with winding 25 in series with the stator high-frequency winding 26 induces current in transformer secondary 23 to feed compensating coil 21 through rectifier 22. The winding 1 may be tapped to serve as the lowfrequency winding or the latter may be a separate winding and may be polyphase. Specification 620,119 is referred to.
